Biography
Elisso Bolkvadze is a Georgian classical pianist, born in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Elisso Bolkvadze has won numerous famous international piano competitions, such as the Van Cliburn, (USA), Vianna da Motta (Lisbon, Portugal), Axa International Piano Competition (Dublin, Ireland), Marguerite Long competition, and special prize for the best interpretation of French music (Paris, France) Bach International Competition in Leipzig. She was also rewarded in her country, by the Georgian government, receiving the most prestigious national honor- “ The medal of honor of Georgian government” 1993. And received Decoration from the City Hall of Tbilisi in 2010 for her successful cultural influence for Georgia.
Elisso Bolkvadze recorded for the label Sony a broad program for piano and orchestra by Ludwig Van Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Saint-Saëns and Liszt under the direction of Djansug Kakhidze. She also recorded a live recital at the Festival Michel Sogny in August 2007 for the Cascavelle label. Elisso has played sold out recitals and concerts throughout Europe and the United States in prestigious Concert Halls: such as Kennedy center (Washington, Usa)Pasadena Auditorium (Los Angeles, Usa), Orange Country Center (Usa) Salle Pleyel, and Salle Gaveau, and Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, Gewandhaus Orchestra (Leipzig, Germany), Herkulessaal (Munich, Germany) Alte Oper (Frankfurt, Germany), Saint Petersburg Philarmonic Hall (Russia ), Vilnius National Orchestra (Lithuania) Chopin Festival in Poland, Ravello Festival in Italy, Orchestra Hall Chicago, and many others.
Recently Elisso created her own charitable music foundation, Lyra, with the mission of inspiring and promoting the young generation of Georgian classical pianists.
