Biography
Edinburgh-based traditional flute player and music leader Gordon Turnbull plays in Irish dance group Absolutely Legless, in The Big Squeeze Ceilidh Band and with Cauldstane Slap, an Edinburgh-based traditional music group .
He also collaborates with others and has solo side projects, some traditional-based such as Ormeau Café, others experimental and improvised. Sonic Sketches for example, is an ongoing project that began in October 2011 and parallels his participatory work in schools and other settings.
Gordon maintains a web site on Irish flute playing, The Flow, and has contributed articles to Music Education UK and Flute, The British Flute Society's Journal.
