"International Music Promoter, Impresario, Mistress of Ceremonies, Career DJ, Chicago Native,and former 7-year resident of Berlin Germany; Scary Lady Sarah (aka SLS) is the founder and owner of American Gothic Productions (AGP) in Chicago, Illinois;" and one half of the DJ Team The Pirate Twins with gothic/punk music artist William Faith (Christian Death, Shadow Project, Mephisto Walz, Sex Gang Children, Wreckage, Anima Mundi, Conflict, Faith and the Muse). "She had her first DJ experience way back in 1986 as co-host of a weekly college radio program ("Night Shift"). Her career as a club DJ started shortly afterwards when she co-founded the longest running Gothic event, Nocturna, in 1988. Since then she has been a featured DJ at some of the most prestigous Goth events in the world, including: Convergence (which she was also an original committee member of); the "C7 Rescue" Saturday night event in NYC; U.K.'s Whitby Gothic Weekend festivals; the Wave Gotik Treffen festival in Leipzig, Germany; the Jungle Club in Rome; at other large-scale Goth festivals throughout England & North America and has also guest DJed gigs in over 26 states. Aside from being a DJ, Scary Lady Sarah has presented hundreds of live bands in Chicago (and on tour), and has hosted several events including: A Gothic Affair, Whiplash, Noctronica and Saturnalia." — AltGothic.com
She currently hosts Chicago Events including: ~NOCTURNA~ held bi-monthly, Nocturna is an 18+ dance night, which features dark alternative, current and classic goth, industrial, post-punk, deathrock, ethereal, shoegaze, post-punk, new wave, ebm, electronic, electronica, aggro, darkwave, dark indie, Guitar-Driven, Goth disco, glam rock, Moody, UK, Melancholic, Rhythmic, Understated Goth, Ambient, Dark Pop, and Trance; ~SHIMMER~ is a monthly dance night of shoegaze, dreampop, psych, space rock, drone, chill, and wave music; and ~BACK TO THE GRAVE~ a quarterly goth, deathrock dance night.
